KENFAM Agriculture Tour

Agriculture Group from Kenya – November 2013.

In November a group of 22 farmers from Kenya arrived in Israel for an agricultural tour.

After arrival they were taken to Kibbutz Ketura to settle in and for overnight. The next day was spent on this Kibbutz which is part of the Green Kibbutz Movement including a visit to a solar field and Algatechnologies – a biotechnology company, experimental fields and a dairy farm.

The next day the group traveled to Hatzeva Research & Development centre & the Yair Station, an amazing Agriculture site in the southern area of Israel where they learned about Organic Farming and Water Management. They also had some time to relax at the Dead Sea and enjoy the therapeutic water.

The next few days were spent touring the sites of Jerusalem and Bethlehem before travelling north to tour Afimilk Dairy farm technologies. While in the north the group also toured Kibbutz Sde Eliyahu to hear about Organic Farming and a Bio-Bee factory, as well as visiting the Mount of Beatitudes and enjoying a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee.

The tour ended with a visit to Igudan (the Dan Region Association of Towns for Sewage and Environmental Issues) Visitors’ Centre before continuing on to the airport for departure.
