Agriculture and Business Tour – July 2017

39 participants from Kenya arrived in Israel on a nine day agricultural Business Opportunities tour combined with a Holy Land pilgrimage. On arrival at Ben Gurion airport they were met and assisted by a representative of Vered Hasharon Travel and Tours before transfer to Hotel in Ashdod for dinner and overnight.

They began their visit by meeting with a consulting company specializing in the planning, development, and implementation of Water & Agricultural projects where they learnt about Agricultural Water Supply, Water efficiency and Water Management Solutions.

After their informative meeting they travelled to the Dead Sea (the lowest point on earth) where they spent a leisurely afternoon with the opportunity to float in the amazing water.

The next day after breakfast they were driven to Ramat Negev R. & D. Centre to learn about agriculture in arid conditions and irrigating with brackish water.
Later they drove to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.

On day 4 they spent a full day touring in Jerusalem, which began at the Mount of Olives where they viewed the panorama of the city. This was followed by a visit to the Garden of Gethsemane to see the Rock of Agony the place where Jesus prayed before the Roman soldiers came for Him. Next they entered the Old city and walked through the colorful bazars. Walked the route of the Via Dolorosa and visited the Jewish Quarter to see the remains of the holy temple and the Wailing (Western) Wall.

The next couple of days were spent visiting Bethlehem and Nazareth with time for exploring on their own and personal shopping. They then travelled to the Sea of Galilee to visit the Holy sites around the lake: Mt. of Beatitudes, Capernaum & Tabgha. They ended the day with a Boat ride on the Sea of Galilee and visited Cana before returning to Nazareth to see the Basilica of the Annunciation.

Their last two days in Israel were spent visiting Kibbutz Ein Harod to learn about the Fish growing Industry and field crops including a visit to the Dairy Farm and learning about Organic Methods for Pest control and pollination in the “Bio-Tour” at Kibbutz Sde Eliyahu.

There was also a visit to Dizengoff Center in Tel Aviv for a meeting with a leading company in the field of Hydroponic and Aquaponics Agriculture. The systems that this company offers has many benefits for developing countries. There was a half day free for exploring and shopping in Tel Aviv before returning to Hotel for dinner and overnight before the following days morning transfer to the airport for their return flight. All in all the group took home with them an abundance of knowledge in their respective fields as well as some great memories of the sights of the Holy Land.
